Youth Ambassador Program

What is the Youth Ambassador Program?

The Cultural Center has recently launched a Youth Ambassador Program aimed at giving area youth leadership roles and opportunities to get involved in Danish heritage activities. The program empowers teens to:

  • Engage in community service and volunteer efforts in partnership with local organizations.

  • Support key events and programming during the Danish Festival.

  • Develop leadership skills, community awareness, and cultural pride.

One example: recent ambassadors from the program helped the Greenville Lions Club with their Christmas toy drive—a meaningful service project coordinated by the DCC.

Youth Cultural Camp

In addition to the ambassador initiative, the Danish Cultural Center also organizes a Danish Youth Camp each summer (e.g., July 28–29, 2025) for children to learn Danish traditions through hands-on activities.

Key Benefits & Activities

  • Leadership & Service: Youth ambassadors take on real responsibilities during DCC events and community initiatives.

  • Cultural Enrichment: Participants deepen their connection to Danish traditions and local heritage.

  • Networking & Involvement: Collaboration with other youth, local nonprofits, and festival organizers.

  • Recognition: Event participation contributes to volunteer experience, leadership showcases, and building confidence.

How to Get Involved

While full application details aren’t publicly available yet, here’s what you can do:

  1. Contact the Danish Cultural Center directly (at 126 W Grove St, Greenville) or reach out via their Facebook page.

  2. Follow their social media and official festival site for announcements—especially in spring when ambassador applications open.

  3. Ask about next year’s youth camp too—it’s great for younger kids interested in Danish culture.
